Abstract:In the high-altitude tobacco-growing areas, relatively low environmental temperature during curing season increases heat dissipation of the conventional bulk curing barn.In this experiment, the conven-tional curing barn was used as the control(CK),and two trermal insulation treatments based on the conven-tional curing barn were set up,namely the one with enclosure structure plus underground heat preservation(T1)and the one only with enclosure structure(T2).The effects of these treatments on pigments, amylase, amino acid metabolism in the tobacco leaves during curing process and quality of the cured tobacco leaves were studied. The results showed that thermal insulation treatments were favorable to the degradation of chlorophyll in tobacco leaves during curing, while the degradation of carotenoids was not significantly different from that of the control curing barn.Thermal insulation treatments were benefit to improve the amylase activity in tobacco leaves. The starch branching enzyme activity of T1 and T2 treatments decreased rapidly at the early stage of curing, which was conducive to hindering the synthesis and accumulation of amylopectin after starch degrada-tion.The amino acid transaminase activity of T1 and T2 treatments was higher than that of CK,which could ef-fectively promote the conversion and degradation of free amino acids.Compared with CK,the total contents of neutral aromatic substances in amino acid precursors of T1 and T2 treatments were increased by 32.72%and 28.54%,respectively.It could be seen that the thermal insulation treatments of the curing barn were conducive to the degradation of pigments and the yellowing of tobacco leaves,as well as the full degradation of starch and the decomposition of free amino acids,so improve the quality of cured tobacco significantly.
