Abstract:Tomato leaf miner(TLM),Tuta absoluta(Meyrick),is a worldwide invasive insect native to South America, which is devastating to tomato industry. In August 2017,TLM was first found to invade the Ili region of Xinjiang and then spread rapidly.Up to now,it has occurred in 13 provinces in Northwest,South-west,North and Central China with outbreak in partial areas.Recently, the pest was found in tomato produc-tion in some regions of Shandong Province. In order to curb the further spread of the insect, early monitoring, early detection, early prevention and control must be carried out in every region to reduce its threat to tomato safe production. In this study, the morphological characteristics, damage characteristics, monitoring and early warning technology, and prevention and control measures of TLM were reviewed, and some countermeasures and suggestions were put forward for the prevention and control of this insect under the climatic conditions in Shandong Province, which could provide references for plant protection personnel and relevant scientific re-searchers to monitor and early warning and precisely prevent and control of this insect.
