Evaluation and Analysis of Grafted Seedling Quality of Four Precocious Walnut Cultivars

Abstract：Four precocious walnut varieties were grafted by bud grafting technique with the variety Jizhuamian as stock, and the quality of grafted seedlings was compared and analyzed .The results showed that the scion length, bud spacing, thickness and dry matter accumulation were different between different varie -ties.The bud spacing could be used as an important character to distinguish different grafted varieties .The quality of walnut seedlings was analyzed by principal component analysis method , and three main components were selected to evaluate the quality of grafted seedlings .The variance contribution rate of the first principal component was 59.36％, and the main -root quality coefficient was the largest.The variance contribution rate of the second principal component was 22.85％, and the coefficients of dry matter mass, length and thickness of scion were larger.The variance contribution rate of the third principal component was 10.02％, and the co-efficient of stock thickness and mass were larger .To evaluate the quality of grafted seedlings of the four walnut cultivars in this test need consider the length , thickness and mass of scions, the thickness and mass of root-stocks, the mass of main root and the number of thick roots .
