Abstract:Rural wastes have increased with the development of rural economy in China.Biogas technology can not only provide clean energy, but also improve the rural living environment. In this study, three major rural wastes (maize straw, domestic organic garbage and cow manure) were anaerobically co-digested at different ratios (1∶ 0∶ 0,1∶ 2∶ 0,1∶ 1.5∶ 0.5,1∶ 1∶ 1,1∶ 0.5∶1.5 and 1 ∶ 0∶ 2,by wet weight ratio). The results revealed that ternary mixing of feedstocks significantly increased the biogas yield and reduced the digestion time compared with binary mixing of feedstocks and single feedstock. The optimal mixing ratio of the three feedstocks was 1 ∶ 0.5∶1.5 for anaerobic co-digestion.
