Abstract:To study the effects of tobacco color characteristic value on the content of plastid pigment,we collected lots of tobacco samples to determine their color feature and plastid pigment values. The representative factors were extracted based on the tobacco color eigenvalues using the factor analysis method, and their correlations with plastid pigment were studied by canonical correlation analysis.Six color parameters including L* (obverse),b* (obverse),h* (obverse),L* (reverse),a* (reverse) and C* (reverse) were selected from 10 parameters as representative factors. The correlation analysis showed that the characteristic value of tobacco had higher correlation with the content of plastid pigment. The canonical correlation analysis indicated that a* and C * values of reverse side had higher influences on the content of chlorophyll a and b,and they decreased with the increase of reverse a* value in a certain range, while increased with the increase of C * value. The beta carrot content reduced and the lutein increased with the increase of obverse L* and b * in a certain range. In conclusion, the color characteristic value of flue-cured tobacco had great influences on the change of plastid pigment content,so the color characteristic value could be used to make a preliminary judgement on the level of plastid pigment in production.
