Abstract:The field experiments were conducted to study the effects of plant-derived smoke water on the photosynthesis characteristics, chlorophyll fluorescence parameters and absorption of mineral elements (Ca,Cu,Fe,K,Mn,Mg,P,Zn) during different development stages (early blooming, late of blooming and fruiting stage, and fruit ripening stage) of Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi through root irrigation and foliage spray. The results showed that the treatment of smoke water could significantly influence the photosynthetic characteristics of Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi. Both root irrigation and foliage spray could promote the net photosynthesis rate (Pn) and the water use efficiency (WUE).Root irrigation increased the Pn at fruit ripening stage and WUE at late blooming and fruiting stage by 31.2% (P < 0.05) and 31.0% (P < 0.05) respectively, and foliage spray increased those by 15.1% (P < 0.05) and 46.2% (P < 0.05) at late blooming and fruiting stage compared to the control. The chlorophyll fluorescence parameters including origin fluorescence (Fo) and maximum fluorescence (Fm) decreased significantly after treated with smoke water. The Fo of Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi under the treatment of root irrigation decreased by 17.2% (P < 0.05) at early blooming stage, the Fm at early blooming and fruit ripening stage under foliage spray treatment decreased by 22.1% (P < 0.05) and 23.4% (P < 0.05) compared to the control, while the energy conversion efficiency (Fv/Fm) had no significant difference with that of the control. The absorption of Ca,Fe and K increased, and that of Cu and Zn decreased;the absorption of Mg,Mn and P showed no significant differences compared to the control after the treated with smoke water.Correlation analysis revealed that there were positive correlations between the absorption of Ca,Cu and Fe elements and the Pn.The plant-derived smoke water had an apparent positive effect on the photosynthesis characteristics and the absorption of mineral elements of Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi.
