Abstract:This research was conducted in artificial incubator with 0.4% NaCl to stimulate salt stress, through calculating the salinity tolerance index of relative germinate rate, the salt tolerance of 196 upland cotton germplasms was evaluated at germination stage. The results showed that the salt tolerance levels varied significantly for different germplasm resources, and 7.65% and 16.84% germplasm resources were identified as high salt tolerance and salt tolerance respectively. The salinity tolerance index of different sources of upland cotton also had significant differences.Compared with foreign germplasms, more domestic genotypes showed salt tolerance and most of them came from Xinjiang and Shandong Province.Through preliminary screening, total 15 high salt-tolerant germplasms were identified, which could be used in salt tolerance mechanism research and breeding of cotton.
