Abstract:The effects of different NaCl treatments on the growth and water physiology of Salicornia europaea at different stages (the 7th, 21th, 42th day) were studied by a pot experiment in lab.The results showed that at any stage, with the increase of NaCl concentration, the fresh weight and bound water content of S.europaea firstly increased and then decreased;the water potential and water content (FW) presented decrease trends;the free water/bound water decreased at first and then increased. With the increase of NaCl concentration, the plant height increased at the 7th day, rose firstly and then reduced at the 21th day, while declined gradually at the 42th day.The amount of extravasation reduced firstly and then went up in the first week with the increase of NaCl concentration, after then it showed a rising trend. The natural water-saturated deficit(NWSD)decreased in short time(7th day)when the concentration of NaCl increased, decreased firstly and then rose at the 21th day, and increased firstly and then decreased at the 42th day.In conclusion, the growth of S.europaea had a requirement of salt, 200~400 mmol/L NaCl was good for its growth, and no salt or high salt (>400 mmol/L) environment was adverse to its growth.
