Abstract:To ascertain the main factors influencing falling number and variety stability,5 winter wheat varieties were arranged to conduct the field experiments for 4 continuous years. The results showed that the meteorological factors, varieties and their interaction had significant effects on falling number of winter wheat. There were significant differences in variation between different years and stability of cultivars. The principal coordinate analysis showed that the falling numbers of genotypes XN979,XM26 and ZM366 were higher and more stable between different years. The correlation analysis showed that the falling number was significantly negatively correlated with rainfall in May,and significantly positively correlated with sunshine hours, average daily temperature range and ≥30℃C temperature days, and increased with the increase of cumulative temperature with no significant correlation. Therefore, the keys to obtain high and stable falling number were to breed and select the optimum varieties and avoid the adverse meteorological factors.
