Abstract:With Zhengdan 958 as experimental material, six sowing dates were designed to study their effects on growth, kernel filling and yield of summer maize. The sowing date was set every five days from June 1.The results showed that with the delay of sowing date, the growth period of summer maize was shortened and the ear height increased;the grains per spike,1 000 -grain weight and shelling percentage decreased;however,no significant difference in plant height was observed between different sowing dates. In the harvest time, the milk line of grains disappeared, and the 1 000 -grain weight and yield reached the highest under the treatment of June 1 and June 5.The moisture content of kernels were more than 30% in all the treatments at harvest time,so it was not suitable for direct grain harvest.
