Abstract:With a large -spike winter wheat cultivar Tainong 18 as material, the field experiment inclu-ding 4 nitrogen (N)application rates [0 (N0),180(N180),240(N240),300 kg/hm2 (N300)]and 3 see-ding rates [270(D270),405(D405),540 plants/m2 (D540)]was conducted to investigate the effects of re-ducing N with high seeding rate on grain yield,N uptake and utilization of winter wheat. The results suggested that the grain yield increased with the increase of N application rate at the seeding rate of 270 plants/m2 .The grain yields increased firstly and then reduced with the increase of N application rate at the seeding rate of 405 and 540 plants/m2 ,and the highest grain yields appeared at N180 and N240 treatments. The high seeding rates (both 405 and 540 plants/m2 )could achieve high grain yield levels as the N application rate decreased from 240 to 180 kg/hm2 ,and the highest grain yield were observed at the seeding rate of 405 plants/m2 . N180D405 (9 252.6 kg/hm2 )and N240D405 (9 328.3 kg/hm2 )both had the highest grain yields, while the UPE,UTE and NUE of the former treatment were 11.33%,3.65% and 15.38% higher than those of the latter one.Properly reducing N input with high seeding rate could obtain higher grain yield, achieve the effective uptake and utilization of N fertilizer and simultaneously enhance the NUE.Under these conditions, the seeding rate of 405 phants/m2 with N application rate of 180 kg/hm2 were considered as the optimal combination for high -efficient production of Tainong 18.
