Abstract:The field experiment was carried out to study the effects of different nitrogen rates on the flue -cured tobacco growth and development, economic characters, smoking quality and nicotine content with the cultivar K326 as material. The results showed that increasing the nitrogen application rate in a certain range could significantly promote the growth and development of tobacco, improve the smolking quality and in-crease the nicotine content. When the nitrogen rate was 90 kg/hm2 ,the agronomic traits, dry matter accumula-tion and economic characters performed better, the smoking quality was the best, and the nicotine content was moderate. It suggested that under the conditions of this test,90 kg/hm2 of nitrogen rate could meet the growth and development need of tobacco, which layed foundation for upgrading the quality of flue -cured tobacco.
