Abstract:Peg strength is one of the important agronomic traits in peanut mechanized production. The peg strength of 26 peanut varieties were detected and analyzed after harvest in this paper. The results showed that the peg strength of all the varieties were generally lower after pulled up and naturally dried in field for three days. There were no significant differences between large and small podded varieties in peg strength. In 13 varieties, the peg strength changed significantly with the pod maturity, while that of the others was not. This study would provide a theoretical basis for breeding new peanut varieties suitable for mechanical harvest.
