Potential Estimation of Rainwater Resources in Island Based on RS/GIS Technology

Abstract：Based on the data from 1971 to 2010 of Bei Changshan Island,the annual and monthly varia-tions of precipitation were analyzed in this paper.The TMremote sensing images of Bei Changshan Island were used to classify the land cover categories using RS /GIS technology.Four categories were obtained including forest land,shrub land,farmland and residential and bare land.Combined with the data of precipitation and land cover types,the total amount,theoretical potential and actual potential of rainwater resources were esti-mated.This calculation method and results would have important guiding significances to the theory of rainwa-ter resource utilization and the construction of rainwater collection projects.
