Abstract:In order to study the effects of endophyte extracts on maize drought -resistant ability, the seed germination test was conducted under 1 0% PEG -6000 simulating drought stress. The maize seeds were trea-ted with different concentrations of SRD in test group and the same volume of water was instead in control group. After 7 days under stress, the embryo length, radicle length, embryo dry weight and radicle dry weight were measured. The storage matter transportation rate and germination rate were also calculated. The results showed that SRD had no impacts on maize germination rate. The optimal concentration of SRD for Shenyu 21 was 200 ng/mL.Under this concentration, the average embryo length was 1 1 .53 cm,which was 1 1 .08%higher than that of control. But the radicle length had no significant increase compared with the control. The storage matter transportation rate was 1 0.63% higher than that of control. The optimal concentration of SRD for Tieyan 58 was 25 ng/mL with the average embryo and radicle lengths and storage matter transportation rate were 1 0.40 cm,22.06 cm and 28.92%,which were 26.21 %,1 0.1 3% and 3.58% higher than that of con-trol respectively. All these results showed SRD could promote the growth of maize seeds under drought stress at germination stage.
