Abstract:Taking the current -year peach seedlings as materials, the effects of adding different concen-trations of exogenous laetrile, vanillin and benzoic acid on the growth of peach seedlings were studied. The re-sults showed that, compared with the control, the POD activity in roots was significantly increased after 0.5 mmol·L -1 laetrile treatment, while the CAT activity and root vigor was significantly inhibited;there were no significant differences between the vanillin and benzoic acid treatment in POD and CAT activities. When the treatment concentration was 1.0 mmol·L -1 ,the activity of SOD and CAT was significantly inhibited by the exogenous laetrile, and the exogenous vanillin and benzoic acid significantly reduced the activity of protective enzymes in roots, root vigor,SPAD value and net photosynthetic rate of leaves and plant biomass;the total po-tassium content in the leaves was also significantly reduced by the vanillin treatment. When the treatment con-centration was 3.0 mmol·L -1 ,the activity of protective enzymes in roots, root vigor,SPAD value, net pho-tosynthetic rate, total nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium contents and plant biomass were decreased signifi-cantly by the exogenous laetrile, vanillin, benzoic acid and their mixture. These results indicated that the growth of peach seedlings could be inhibited by 1 mmol·L -1 vanillin,1 mmol·L -1 benzoic acid and 3 mmol·L -1 laetrile, and the inhibition was strengthened with the increasing of treatment concentration.
