Planting Varieties and Production Status of Chinese Cabbage in Shandong Coastal Regions
Abstract:The production status and cultivar succession of Chinese cabbage ( Brassica rapa L.ssp.pe-kinensis) in 29 counties belonging to 6 cities of Shandong coastal regions were surveyed from 1975 to 2010. The results showed that the cultivated area and total yield went through three stages of firstly decreased, then gradually increased, and finally rapidly increased, and showed increase trend on the whole with large interan-nual change amplitude.Although the proportion of low yield cultivars (total yield <103 t) of the total output was small, its number was abundant, which was important for enriching Chinese cabbage germplasm resources in China. The number of high yield cultivars (total yield≥104 t) was small, but it had high yield proportion, which played an important role in promoting the development of Chinese cabbage industry in Shandong Province.
