Abstract:Three -year old field experiments were conducted to study the effects of intercropped with platycodon on agronomic traits , disease occurrence , appearance quality and economic benefit of tobacco leav-es.The results showed that compared to monocropping , intercropping with platycodon increased the plant height, stem girth, lumbar leaf and parietal lobe of tobacco a little , and decreased the occurrence rate of main local diseases such as viral disease , angular leaf spot , wild fire disease , black shank and brown spot .There were no significant differences in appearance quality between intercropped and monocropped tobacco leaves . The yield per unit area and output value of intercropped tobacco leaves were lower than those of monocropped ones, but the proportion of superior tobacco and average price were higher .The comprehensive economic ben-efits of tobacco intercropped with platycodon were higher than that of monocropped .
