Effects of Soil Moisture and Seeding Depth on Wheat Seedling Emergence and Growth before Winter

Abstract：The effects of seeding depth on wheat seedling emergence and growth before winter were in-vestigated and compared under the treatments of seeding with sufficient soil moisture ( T1) and watering after seeding with less soil moisture (T2).The results showed that under the T1 treatment, the seedling emergence rate was the highest and the seedlings grew best at 5 cm of seeding depth;increasing or reducing the seeding depth could decrease the seedling emergence rate and growth .Under the T2 treatment , the seedling emergence and growth before winter were the best when the seeding depth was 3 cm;increasing seeding depth could sig-nificantly decrease the seedling emergence and growth .
