Abstract:Correlation and path analysis were conducted among pre -frost lint yield and other quantita-tive traits. The study showed that both the number of bolls per plant and lint had highly significantly positive correlations with pre-frost lint yield , and the number of fruiting branches per plant had higher positive com-bined effect .The seed index and pre -frost lint yield was significantly negatively correlated .The single boll weight had a higher positive direct path coefficient on pre -frost link yield , but the comprehensive effect of single boll weight with other characters was negative .The effect of other traits on pre -frost link yield was ei-ther positive or negative , but the impact was minimal .Thus, in cotton breeding , the characters such as more bolls per plant , moderate single boll weight and lint and early maturity without senescence should be focused on.The main factors controlling pre-frost lint yield should be controlled in optimum range , forming dynamic equilibrium, and given full play to the advantage of each factor to choose the high -yield cotton varieties.
