Abstract:Three sweet sorghum hybrids were used to research the effects of 6 different planting densities on plant height , stem diameter , tiller number , lodging level and biomass .Variance analysis showed that the differences in tiller number , lodging level and biomass between different densities reached significant level , while those of plant height and stem diameter were not significant .Comprehensively analyzing lodging charac-ters and biomass , the optimum planting density of Jitianza 2 , Jitianza 3 and Liaotian 3 was 55 000 , 33 000 and 33 000~45 000 plants per hectare respectively .Under the optimum planting density , the three hybrids had the highest biomass and low lodging rate which was beneficial to mechanical harvesting .
