Abstract:Using correlation analysis , two-way selection stepwise regression analysis and grey relational analysis , the test data of 135 tobacco leaf samples from 5 tobacco -growing areas in Xiangxi , Hunan Prov-ince, were analyzed to comprehensively study the quality of flue -cured tobacco in Xiangxi and the relation-ships among quality indexes .The results showed that the tobacco maturity in Xiangxi was in the middle level of maturity grade. The tension, stem ratio, nicotine, nitrogen, K, Cl and other indicators were all in the ap-propriate ranges. The variation coefficients of single leaf weight , ratio of potassium to chlorine , Cl, nicotine, Cu, Fe and S were relatively larger .The aroma quality and sweet -returning sense were better .The volume of aroma was adequate .And the score of dry sensation and offensive odor were lower .The color and maturity were significantly positively correlated with aroma quality , aftertaste , offensive odor and the total score .The thickness and single leaf weight were significantly positively correlated with offensive odor .The filling value was significantly negatively correlated with the volume of aroma .The reducing sugar and K showed high signif-icant positive correlations with the volume of aroma .The total nitrogen and K were significantly positively cor-related with offensive odor .The irritation was significantly positively correlated with nicotine and Cl , and sig-nificantly negatively correlated with starch .The sensory quality score showed significantly positive correlations with nicotine and K , and significantly negative correlation with Cl .The grey relational sequence of mineral nu-trition elements with sensory quality score was Cu >Fe>P>Mg>Zn>Ca>S.
