Abstract:To explore the effect of sowing date and meteorological elements on growth and yield of peanut cultivar Xianghua 2008 , a sowing trial was conducted in Shaodong County .The results showed that the pea-nuts with different sowing dates experienced different weather conditions , so their growth and development and yield were affected .The recommended optimum sowing date was early April .Meteorological elements had greater effects on development process of peanut , which were in order of total cumulative temperature , air tem-perature , precipitation and sunshine duration .Early and medium growth stages were more affected by meteoro-logical conditions , while later growth stage was less affected in similar meteorological conditions between differ-ent sowing dates .The growth period of peanut might be predicted by effective cumulative temperature .
