A Fast Intra Coding Algorithm of HEVC Based on Texture Direction
LAN Min
Abstract：A fast intra coding algorithm is proposed to reduce the high complexity of high efficiency video coding (HEVC). Firstly with the improved gradient operator, reduce 35 intra prediction modes to 11-12. Taking use of the texture similarity of the lower coding block to the upper, and the the complexity of the current coding block, then early terminate the recursive partitioning of coding units. Experimental results show that the algorithm in this paper saves encoding time of 35% on average compared to the original algorithm of HM13.0, maintaining a higher quality of encoding.
