Design of Serial Communication between FPGA and S7-200

Abstract：FPGA is widely used in high-speed acquisition system, and S7-200 is also applied in engineering very common, they can be widely used in high-powered apparatuses and electronic products by exerting both of their advantages. To implement their integrated application, the communication between them is very important. In this paper, to achieve serial communication function between FPGA and S7-200 we use Verilog language in the Quartus II and ladder editor in STEP 7, in which the FPGA communication part uses a modular thinking, the S7-200 uses the free port communication. We validate the feasibility and effectiveness of the design after simulation and download debug, the design has a strong versatility and practical value.
