An Overview of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Regulating Neuroinflammation and Treating Neurodegenerative Diseases

Abstract:Neurodegenerative diseases refer to a category of disorders caused by the gradual degeneration or death of neurons in the central nervous system,including Alzheimer's disease(AD),Parkinson's disease(PD),Huntington's disease(HD),and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis(ALS),etc.Recent studies have found that traditional Chinese medicine has a significant therapeutic effect on improving neurodegenerative diseases by regulating neuroinflammatory responses.Therefore,this article reviews the mechanism of action of neuroinflam-mation in various neurodegenerative diseases,and summarizes the research progress of traditional Chinese medicine monomer compounds,traditional Chinese medicine compound prescriptions,and acupuncture therapy in regulating neuroinflammation for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases,with the prospect of promoting theoretical innovation and clinical practice break-throughs of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.There are 50 references.
