Research Progress on the Mechanism of Gegen(Puerariae Lobatae Radix)in Preventing and Treating Cerebral Small Vessel Disease

Abstract：Cerebral small vessel disease(CSVD)is a disease of cerebral small-vessels and microvessels in the brain caused by chronic insufficient perfusion,neuroinflammation,disruption of the blood-brain barrier,etc.There are numerous risk factors for it,including hypertension,diabetes,hyperlipidemia,etc.At present,the clinical treatment mainly focuses on preventing vascular damage,improving blood circulation and enhancing cognitive function.Gegen(Puerariae Lobatae Radix)has the functions of relieving muscle pain and reducing fever,unblocking meridians and collaterals,raising yang and stopping diarrhea,and detoxifying alcoholism.It can effectively target the pathogenesis and main risk factors of cerebral small vessel disease.This paper reviews the mechanism of action of Gegen and its effective ingredients in preventing and treating cerebral small vessel disease by controlling risk factors through the retrieval of relevant domestic and foreign literature on the active ingredients of Gegen and its compound treatment for hypertension,diabetes and hyperlipidemia in the past five years,with a prospect of providing a theoretical basis for the clinical treatment and drug development of cerebral small vessel disease and its main risk factors.There are 69 references.
