Abstract:Premenstrual dysphoric disorder(PMDD)is a severe subtype of Premenstrual Syndrome(PMS)in which patients experience a series of negative emotions such as irritability, anxiety or depression before menstruation. The sensitivity of the γ-aminobutyric acid(GABA)energy system to neurosteroid fluctuations during the menstrual cycle is reduced, leading to the emergence of negative emotions in PMDD patients. From the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine constitution theory, this paper expounds the manifestation of constitution susceptibility in the GABA energy system of PMDD patients, and explores the similarity between the formation process of PMDD susceptibility constitution types and the key factors affecting the imbalance of the GABA energy system based on the special physiological, psychological and emotional factors leading to liver catharsis disorder in women of childbearing age who are prone to PMDD.
