Overview of Research on Traditional Chinese Medicine in Regulating Ferroptosis for Prevention and Treatment of Vascular Dementia

Abstract：Studies have shown that ferroptosis is closely related to neurovascular diseases and participates in the pathological process of vascular dementia through multiple mechanisms.Therefore,reasonable regulation of ferroptosis is helpful for the prevention and treatment of vascular dementia.Traditional Chinese medicine has unique advantages such as multiple targets and few adverse reactions,and is widely used in the treatment of vascular dementia.This article analyzes the association between ferroptosis and vascular dementia by summarizing the three major mechanisms of ferroptosis:iron accumulation,lipid oxidation,and amino acid metabolism.Starting from the active ingredients and compound prescriptions of traditional Chinese medicine,this paper further elaborates on the research progress of traditional Chinese medicine in treating vascular dementia by regulating the ferroptosis mechanism in recent years.It is found that various active ingredients of traditional Chinese medicine and compound prescriptions of traditional Chinese medicine can effectively block the progression of vascular dementia by regulating the ferroptosis mechanism.This paper systematically analyzes and summarizes the research on the regulation of ferroptosis by traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of vascular dementia,and examines the shortcomings of current research,aiming to provide new ideas and directions for the research on the regulation of ferroptosis by traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of vascular dementia.There are 47 references.
