SHAN Qiuhua's Experience in Treatment of Head and Face Herpes Zoster

Abstract：Professor SHAN Qiuhua believes that the head and face herpes zoster is mostly related to dampness and heat,and stagnation of qi and blood stasis,which is often accompanied by anxiety and other mental symptoms due to the intolerable pain of the lesion site.Professor SHAN categorizes the disease into four types:spleen deficiency and dampness,liver channel stagnation and heat,qi deficiency and blood stasis,qi and yin deficiency.The treatment is based on acupuncture,which is prescribed and used flexibly combined with moxibustion,auricular pressure points,electro-acupuncture and fire-acupuncture and other therapies.In the course of treatment,attention is given to the view of the unity of form and spirit,adhering to the clear identification of the syndromes and carrying out the treatment of regulating the spirit through the whole process.
