CHEN Xiaohu's Experience in Differential Treatment of Variant Angina Pectoris from Jueyin Perspective

Abstract:Variant angina pectoris is categorized under heart pain in traditional Chinese medicine.According to the Treatise on Febrile Diseases,the phrase"Jueyin disease,qi strikes the heart"signifies that"qi strikes the heart"is a typical manifestation of angina pectoris.This condition is located in the tendons of the hand jueyin pericardium meridian,and the occurrence of spasms is primarily caused by dysfunction of the liver governing tendons in the foot jueyin meridian.Professor CHEN Xiaohu posits that variant angina pectoris can be effectively treated through jueyin differentiation.The disease mechnaims is attributed to yang deficiency with cold attack in both the hand and foot jueyin meridians,leading to stagnation of qi and blood within the pericardium,which results in pain when circulation is obstructed.Therefore,the fundamental treatment principles involve the use of warm and pungent medicinals to dispel cold,warm yang,and recover the pulse,supplemented by methods to relax tendons and alleviate spasms,while also nourishing nutrient yin.Clinically,Danggui Sini Decoction(当归 四逆汤)is employed as the primary formula with modi-fication,yielding favorable therapeutic outcomes.One verified case is provided for reference.
