Discussion on Tight Pulse by HUANG Wenzheng and Proved Cases

Abstract：Tight pulse is common in clinic.Since the form and trend of tight pulse are similar to those of wiry pulse,it is difficult to distinguish both pulse in clinic which would cause mistreatment.This study reviews the descriptions of the tight pulse across various historical periods and summarizes Professor HUANG Wenzheng's perspectives on it.The tight pulse can be distinguished from the similar wiry pulse based on three aspects:pulse form,pulse position,and pulse passage,with a comprehensive approach that combines tongue and pulse diagnosis to further differentiate the two.Clinically,the detection of a tight pulse primarily suggests cold syndromes.Besides,tight pulses can be observed across the triple-energizer.Formulas such as Qianghuo Shengshi Decoction(羌活胜湿汤),Jingfang Baidu Powder(荆防败毒散),Huopo Xialing Decoction(藿朴夏苓汤),Lizhong Pill(理中丸),Shezhang Formula(肾胀方),Ganjiang Lingzhu Decoction(甘姜苓术汤),and Duhuo Jisheng Decoction(独活寄生汤)are ofen applied with modification,and to achieve significant efficacy.
