Experience by LIU Chinian in Treating Insomnia of Non-interaction between Heart and Kidney Type

Abstract：Based on the theoretical system of heart-kidney interaction,experience by Professor LIU Chinian in treating insomnia of non-interaction between heart and kidney type from the perspectives of theory origin and mechanism research were analyzed.Insomnia is mainly caused by old age and physical weakness,deterioration of physical function,deficient spleen and stomach,overwork,or external contraction of cold with damage of yang qi.In addition,the theory of insomnia caused by non-interaction between heart and kidney has been improved from three perspectives,heart failing to connect kidney,kidney failing to connect heart,and mutual non-connection between heart and kidney.Professor LIU often uses Liuwei Dihuang Pill(六味地黄丸),Linggui Zhugan Decoction(苓桂术甘汤)and Wumei Pill(乌梅丸)as the primary formulas with modification to treat insomnia,which is of great significance for guiding the treatment of insomnia of non-interaction between heart and kidney type.
