Clinical Study on Active Ulcerative Colitis Treated with Jianzhong Huashi Decoction

Abstract:Objective: To observe the clinical effect of Jianzhong Huashi decoction on the treatment of active ulcerative colitis. Methods: Seventy patients with active ulcerative colitis meeting with the criteria of spleen deficiency and dampness accumulation of traditional Chinese medicine were divided into the control group and treatment group by random number table, 35 cases in each group. The control group was treated with sulfasalazine, while the treatment group was treated with sulfasalazine in combination with Jianzhong Huashi Decoction. The treatment in both groups lasted for 28 days. Results: After treatment, the hs-CRP, ESR, IL-6, DAI scores, colonoscopy scores, mucosal tissue scores were lower than those before treatment (P<0.05), and in the treatment group were more obviously reduced than those in the control group(P<0.05). The IL-10 and IBDQ scores were higher than those before treatment in both groups (P< 0.05), and in the treatment group increased more than those in the control group(P<0.05). The total effective rate in the treatment group was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion;In the treatment of active ulcerative colitis, Jianzhong Huashi Decoction can inhibit the expression of proinflammatory cytokines and promote the expression of anti-inflammatory cytokines, reduce the degree of intestinal mucosal lesion, enhance the intestinal mucosal barrier function, improve life quality, and improve the clinical curative effect.
