Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of comprehensive traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) step therapy on peripheral neuropathy of multiple myeloma. Methods:Forty four patients meeting with the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into the experimental group and control group, 22 cases in each group. According to the neurotoxicity grade, the patients were given TCM step treatment for 2 weeks. Changes of numeric pain rating table score(NRS), sensory disorder, motor dysfunction, and incidence of adverse drug reactions(ADR) of antineoplastic drugs by WHO standard were recorded. Results:①On NRS, the total effective rate in the experimental group was 77.27%, while in the control group was 36.36%, with statistical difference(P=0.006). ②On sensory disorder, the total effective rate in the experimental group was 68.18%, while in the control group was 31.82%, with statistical difference(P=0.027). ③On motor disorder, the total effective rate in the experimental group was 31.82%, while in the control group was 13.64%, without statisti cal difference(P=0.155). ④On incidence of ADR of antineoplastic drugs by WHO standard, the total effective rate in the experimental group was 54.55%, while in the control group was 31.82%, without statistical difference(P=0.095). Conclusion:Comprehensive TCM step treatment for peripheral neuropathy of multiple myeloma could relieve the abnormal sensation like numbness and pain, and is helpful for patients to alleviate pain and improve life quality.
