Clinical Observation on the Treatment of Senile Dementia with the Language Barrier Using Acupuncture and Medicine

Abstract：Objective:To observe the clinical effect of acupuncture combined with memantine hydrochloride in treatment of senile dementia with language barrier. Methods:All the senile dementia patients with de-mentia were treated with Sanjiao acupuncture combined with memantine hydrochloride. The Severe Impair-ment Battery Language(SIB-L) scale score,spontaneous speech score,and auditory comprehension score were recorded before treatment,1 month after treatment and 3 month after treatment to evaluate clinical effect. Results:Three months after treatment,the total effective rate of auditory comprehension was 86.6％,that of spontaneous speech was 83.3％. and that of SIB-L scale was 86.7％. Conclusion:Acupuncture combined with memantine hydrochloride has good effect on senile dementia with language barriers ,and should be widely applied in clinic.
