Abstract:Objective:To systemically compare the efficacy, safety and herb dosage in the modified traditional Chinese herbal medicine bath combined with narrow-band ultraviolet B(UVB),and those in the traditional Chinese herbal medicine bath combined with narrow-band UVB for psoriasis. Methods:There were 300 pa-tients with psoriasis meeting criteria randomly divided into 3 groups, with 100 cases in each group. Patients treated with the modified traditional Chinese medicine bath and narrow-band UVB were in the treatment group, patients treated with the traditional Chinese medicine bath and narrow-band UVB were in the control group 1. In the above two groups, the traditional Chinese herbal medicine and phototherapy methods were the same, except for the bath method. Patients treated only with narrow-band UVB were in the control group 2. Psoriasis area severity index(PASI)was calculated in the 3 groups for skin lesions before and after treat-ment. Results:There was no statistically significant between the treatment group and the control group 1(P>0.05),but reduced herb dosage. There was statistically significant between the treatment group and con-trol group 2(P<0.05). Conclusion:The modified traditional Chinese herbal medicine bath combined with narrow-band UVB could reduce herb dosage, and the efficacy in the two groups treated with Chinese herbal medicine bath were higher than that in the group treated with narrow-band UVB alone. In the three groups, all the treatment methods have high safety.
