Clinical Observation on Treatment of Ankylosing Spondylitis with Wangbixiao Formula Fumigation Combined with Internal Heat Needle

Abstract：Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of Wangbixiao Formula fumigation combined with inter-nal heat needle in the treatment of ankylosing spondylitis. Methods:Fifty-three patients with ankylosing spondylitis(AS) were divided into the treatment group of 28 cases,and the control group of 25 cases according to random number tables. The treatment group was given self-made traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) Wangbixiao formula fumigation combined with internal heat needle ,the control group was given TCM fumiga-tion treatment alone. Two groups were treated for three weeks. The clinical efficacy ,before and after the treatment,the main symptoms (time of morning spine stiffness,pain degree) and signs (the movement of the spine,tender point),inflammatory laboratory index(ESR,CRP) were observed and analyzed. Results:The total effective rates in treatment group and control group were 89.3％ and 72.0％,respectively,with significant dif ference between the two groups (P<0.05). After the treatment,on symptoms,signs and laboratory indexes both groups were improved and the differences between the two groups were of statistical significance (P<0.05). Conclusion:Chinese herb fumigation combined with internal heat needle is effective in the treatment of AS.
