Effects of Modified Fuzi Lizhong Decoction on Chronic Atrophic Gastritis of Deficient Cold in Spleen and Stomach

Abstract：Objective:To observe the curative effects of modified Fuzi Lizhong decoction in treating chronic atrophic gastritis of deficient cold in spleen and stomach and the underlying mechanism. Methods:There were 100 patients with chronic atrophic gastritis of deficient cold in spleen and stomach which were ran-domly divided into the control group and treatment group ,with 50 patients in each group. The control group was given teprenone capsules and the treatment group was given teprenone capsule and modified Fuzi Lizhong decoction,both for 4 months. After the treatment,all the patients underwent the gastric biopsy and their major clinical symptoms were scored . Intestinal metaplasia ( IM ) in the gastric mucosal pathological specimens were scored through analogue method,and the expression of Wnt3A in the specimens was detect-ed by immunohistochemical method. The clinical and pathological curative effects and the differences of IM and Wnt3A between the two groups were compared. Results:Four months after treatment ,the effective rate of clinical symptoms in the treatment group and the control group were 86.96% and 72.73%,respectively,with significant difference(P<0.01). In the treatment group and control group,the effective rate of pathological changes were 89.13% and 63.64%,respectively,with significant difference(P<0.05). In the control group after the treatment,the gastric mucosal IM was significantly lower than that before treatment(P=0.033),while the expression of Wnt3A showed no significant difference after the treatment (P=0.519). In the treatment group after treatment,the gastric mucosal IM was significantly lower than that before treatment (P=0.001), and the expression of Wnt3A was also significantly lower than that before treatment(P=0.003). After treat-ment the gastric mucosal IM and the expression of Wnt3A in the treatment group were significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion:Modified Fuzi Lizhong decoction can treat the chronic atrophic gas tritis of deficient cold in spleen and stomach with good effect ,and significantly improve the clinical symptoms and the pathological effects. Modified Fuzi Lizhong decoction can reverse IM to certain degree,and the mechanism may be related to downregulation of Wnt3A expression in gastric mucosal lesions.
