Clinical Study of Effect of Ointment Made from Medicines in Buyang Huanwu Decoction on Prevention and Treatment of Peripheral Neurotoxicity Induced by Chemotherapy Regimen Containing Taxol

Abstract：Objective:To observe the effect of ointment made from medicines in Buyang Huanwu decoction on prevention and treatment of peripheral neurotoxicity induced by chemotherapy regimen containing taxol.Methods:A total of 87 patients who met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into observation group and control group.The control group was only treated by chemotherapy regimen containing taxol The observation group were given ointment made from medicines in Buyang Huanwu decoction while receiving chemotherapy regimen containing taxol.The peripheral neurotoxicity and KPS scores of the two groups were evaluated after four cycles of treatment.Resuhs:The peripheral neurotoxicity incidence of the observation group and the control group were 18.2％ and 34.9％.The difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P＜0.05).After treatment,the KPS score of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group and the difference was statistically significant(P＜0.05).Conclusion:Ointment made from medicines in Buyang Huanwu decoction can reduce the peripheral neurotoxicity induced by taxtol and improve the life quality of the patients,so it is worthy of clinical popularization and application.
