Abstract:Objective:To study the effect liver soothing and mind regulating acupuncture on the central neu-rotransmitters in sleep deprived rats. Methods:The rat models were established by modified multiple platform method(MMPM). The experiment animals were divided into the normal group, model group, acupuncture group, and western medicine group. In acupuncture group, acupuncture was performed 20 minutes each day,1 time per day,for 7 days. Diazepam was intraperitoneal injected in western medicine group. The physical signs of each rat were observed. The general condition was observed and the contents of 5-HT,5-HIAA,NE,DA and GABA in the rats' brains were detected. Results:Compared with the normal group, the contents of 5-HT, 5-HIAA and GABA in the model group were obviously declined while the content of DA and NE increased. Compared with the model group, the contents of 5-HT,5-HIAA and GABA in acupuncture and western medicine groups increased and the content of NE decreased ,with statistical difference (P<0.05). Conclusion:The mechanism of liver soothing and mind regulating acupuncturing may be realized through increasing the contents of 5-HT,5-HIAA and GABA and decreasing the contents of NE,therefore to relieve the symptoms in sleep deprived rats.
