Clinical Study of Soft Tissue Tension Test in Treatment of Temporomandibular Disorder by Manipulation

Abstract：Objective:To observe the effect of manipulation and semiconductor laser on tension of soft tissue of temporomandibular disorder patients by soft tissue tension test system. Methods:A total of 60 patients who met the diagnosis and inclusive standards were randomly divided into manipulation group ( Group A ) and semiconductor laser group(Group B),with 30 cases in each group. The tension of soft tissue of the unaffect-ed and affected side of the two groups were measured respectively before treatment ,1 time after treatment and 6 times after treatment. The tension of soft tissue of both sides of 300 cases in the normal group ( Group C ) were measured for 1 time. Result:The total effective rate was 93.3% in Group A and 70.0% in Group B. The difference of the curative effect between the two groups was statistically significant (P<0.05). The tension of soft tissue of both sides in both Group A and Group B all get closer to Group C(P<0.05). Conclusion:The curative effect on temporomandibular disorder may have relationship with the tension of soft tissue around temporomandibular joints. The tension of soft tissue displacement can be an objective indicator for evaluating the curative effect on temporomandibular disorder.
