Abstract:Objective:To investigate the effect of pressing Shenmen point on relieving pain caused by PICC catheter insertion with modified Seldinger technique under ultrasound-guidance. Methods:Total 60 patients with PICC catheter were divided into control group(30 cases),pressing point group(30 cases) by using ran-dom number table. Patients in the control group were given lidocaine for local anesthesia, while patients in the pressing point group were given pressing points besides the treatment in the control group. The pain score during catheter insertion, anxiety score and blood pressure and heart rate before insertion were com-pared. Results:The pain during insertion in the pressing point group was significant lower than that in the control group with statistical significance(P<0.05). Conclusions:Pressing points can relieve pain caused by PICC catheter insertion, relieve the anxiety before the insertion, and stabilize the physiological indexes.
