Abstract:Objective:To evaluate the short-term and long-term efficacy of distal acu-points combined with ki-nesiotherapy on treating external humeral epicondylitis. Methods:Sixty-six patients with humeral epicondylitis meeting with the inclusion criteria were divided into observation group and control group randomly ,with 33 cases in each group. The observation group was given surrounding acupuncture with the distal acu-points and kinesiotherapy, while the control group was given surrounding acupuncture therapy with conventional points. We compared the elbow joint activities, the scores of short-form McGill pain questionnaire(SF-MPQ),and pa-tient-rated tennis elbow evaluation (PRTEE) scores before the treatment with those 1 week after treatment. Furthermore, the clinical efficacy 1 week after the therapy and that three months after was evaluated. Re-sults:After the treatment, the elbow joint activities,SF-MPQ scores and PRTEE scores were improved obvi-ously,with obvious statistical differences(P<0.01);after the treatments, the elbow joint activity,SF-MPQ scores and PRTEE scores in the observation group was better than those in the control group ,with statistical differ ence(P<0.05);the clinical efficacy in the observation group was better than that in the control group 1 week and 3 months after the treatment, with statistical difference(P<0.05). Conclusions:The short-term and long-term efficacy of distal acu-points combined with kinesiotherapy treating external humeral epicondylitis was better than routine acupuncture ,with higher cure rates and total effective rates.
