Clinical Observations on Tongue Acupuncture Combined with Language Therapy in Motor Aphasia after Stroke

Abstract:Objective:To observe the effects of tongue acupuncture combined with language therapy in the treatment of motor aphasia after stroke. Methods:Sixty patients with aphasia were randomly divided into con-trol group and treatment group with 30 cases in each group. The control group was given conventional west-ern language therapy,and the observation group was given tongue acupuncture,40 min per time,5 times per week,besides the treatment in the control group. After 4 weeks,Chinese Aphasia Examination Method was applied to evaluate the curative effect. Results:Both treatments could improve the speaking ability of the pa-tients. The total effective rate in the treatment group was 90%,while in the control group was 76.7%,with statistical difference(P<0.05). Conclusion:Tongue acupuncture combined with language therapy in the treat-ment of motor aphasia after stroke could effectively enhance the patient's speaking ability,and it was better than language rehabilitation alone.
