Abstract:Objective:To improve the extraction rate of cholic acid from Pulvis Fellis Suis. Method:Apply ethanol reflux and hot alkaline hydrolysis to Pulvis Fellis Suis respectively, and cholic acid had been ex-tracted after appropriate acidifid, dissolved with alcohol and dried. Improved method for determination of cholic acid had been explored to monitor these process steps and the final products. Result:For ethanol ex-traction,the yield of cholic acid extraction on the dry weight was about 15.02%! to 50.20%,and the cholic acid content was about 0.62%! to 3.96%. 60%! ethanol extracted higher content of cholic acid than others, and its converted pure cholic acid extraction rate was 1.99%. For alkaline hydrolysis, the yield of cholic acid ex-traction on the dry weight was 37.80%,and the cholic acid content was 17.92%,and its converted pure cholic acid extraction rate was 6.77%. Conclusion:The method of alkaline hydrolysis was more efficient than ethanol extraction for extract of cholic acid.
