Application of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Fast-track Programmes for Colorectal Cancer During Perioperative Period

Abstract:Objective:To investigate the feasibility and effectiveness of traditional Chinese medicine in fast-track programmes(FTP) for colorectal cancer during perioperative period. Methods:Eighty colorectal can-cer patients,which were abide by FTP,admitted to the department of colorectal surgery were divided ran-domly into treatment group ( receiving traditional Chinese medicine treatment ) and control group ( receiving conventional treatment),40 cases in each groups. The postoperative immunological indicators,first exhaust time,first defecate time,complication rate,liver and kidney functions were observed. Results:Compared with control group , the immunological indicators were improved in treatment group ( P<0 . 05 ) , first exhaust time and first defecate time were significantly early (P<0.05). There were no significant difference (P>0.05) in complication rate,liver and kidney functions. Conclusion:Traditional Chinese medicine in FTP for periopera-tive period of colorectal cancer is safe and effective ,which is beneficial for the immune system ,and recovery of intestinal tract.
