Experimental Study of Acute Toxicity and Analgesic Effect of Compatibility of Nux Vomica and Sappanwood

Abstract：Objective:To elaberate the effect of nux vomica and sappanwood (n&s) with different proportions on toxicity and analgesic effect,so as to find the optimum proportion. Methods:The mice were randomly di-vided into blank group,nux vamica group,(n&s) 1∶2 group,(n&s) 1∶4 group and (n&s) 1∶6 group. Through experiment of acute toxicity,the LD50 in groups of different proportion were detected. Through acetic acid writhing and hot plate method,the changes of analgesic effect before and after compatibility of nux vomica and sappanwood were observed. Results:Compared with the nux vamica group,the toxicity of the compatibility group reduced and the (n&s) 1∶6 group had better effect on reducing toxicity. The analgesic experiment showed that the analgesic effect of the compatibility group was better than that of the nux vamica group and the (n&s) 1∶6 group was better. Conclusion:The sappanwood can reduce the toxicity of nux vamica and enhance the analgesic effect of nux vamica. The compatibility of the two medicines can reduce the toxicity and en-hance the effect. The proportion of 1:6 is better.
