Abstract:Objective:To study the effect of phenytoin combined with borneol on content of phenytoin in blood and distribution of phenytoin in brain tissue. Methods:The content of phenytoin in blood and brain tissue when phenytoin was used alone and together with borneol was determined respectively by HPLC. Re-sults:Before the the borneol was added, the contents of phenytoin in rats ’ blood and brain tissue were 9.65 ±0.19 μg/mL and 6.18 ±0.17 μg/mL. when the borneol was added, the contents of phenytoin in rats’ blood and brain tissue increased significantly. Conclusion:Borneol can promote the absorption of phenytoin and help phenytoin to penetrate the blood-brain barrier. It can enhance the effect of phenytoin.
