Analysis of Symptoms Related to Edema of Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder and Their Pathogenesis

Abstract:Objective:To explore symptomatologic characteristics of edema of premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) and the pathogenesis of relative symptoms by analyzing symptomatologic characteristics of PMDD,so as to provide reference for clinical syndrome differentiation. Method:An epidemiological investigation on PMDD was carried out by 6 institutions of our country. The premenstrual symtoms of the subjects were ob-served. Symptoms and signs closely related to edema were selected by unconditioned logistic regression anal ysis. Result:In the 675 patients with PMDD,536(79.5%) were without edema and 138(20.5%) had edema symptoms. Symptoms closely related to edema of PMDD mainly include intolerance of cold,cold limbs,dis-tention in head,breast pain,abdominal bearing-down pain,loose stool,chest congestion,fatigue,enlarged tongue and so on. Conclusion:As one of the symptoms of PMDD,edema and other closely related symptoms reflect-ed the basic pathogenesis of PMDD were dampness obstruction caused by spleen deficiency and disorder and stagnation of liver qi.
